My birthday was this month and David was super excited about the things he had planned for me. He woke up at 6:00 in the morning to try and get Ryan up so they could decorate before I came out of my room. In each of the eggs in the picture they wrote something nice about me, they had other balloons and streamers around the house. David (with Ryan's help) bought me a blender as my gift. David just knew that I wanted a blender and that would be the best gift. (We haven't had a blender for six months and it is really nice to have one again.)
David lost another tooth. It took forever to come out! It looked really odd for a while because it was dangling. (You can kind of see what I mean in the sewing picture below.)
We went to an outside market and I was able find some local honey (that wasn't priced as gourmet honey). Never thought "local" would mean from the Florida Keys. I chose the Sea Grape variety and they also had others like avocado and mango (meaning the kinds of flowers the bees used).
Speaking of mangos, a friend had a neighbor with an overabundance of mangos. He gave us about sixteen which we mostly chopped and put in the freezer. That was a lot of mango.
We went to the Science Center in Fort Lauderdale and explored all kinds of things. Ryan and David are standing in the mouth of a prehistoric shark. David is in front of a green screen to forecast the weather. While there we learned that South Florida had snow once, back in 1977.
David reads like crazy. He loves his "learning books" and is also currently reading The Boxcar Children books.
David has been working hard on his hand sewing projects, but he is also very much interested in learning how to use the sewing machine. I drew straight lines on cardstock and then had him direct the it through while I used the peddle. He did a great job and is already planning to make blankets to sell for his business. (By the way, his business gets more elaborate all the time. Some plans for now, some for after he serves a mission.)
